Many thanks to everyone who attended the P.G. Wodehouse Summer Picnic in Russell Square on Saturday 10th May.
The event was a huge success! Around 300 picnic goers relaxed on rugs, reading specially printed samplers and soaking up the sun while they were entertained by music written by P.G. Wodehouse and beautifully performed by Hal Cazalet, his great-grandson, accompanied by the Will Hyland Quintet.
Several thrilling pig races drew huge crowds eager to back a winner! Children of all ages competed in classic summer games such as the egg and spoon race, the sack race and the closely contested three legged race. Scores of children enjoyed a newt painting competition - Gussie Fink-Nottle would be proud! Foyles did a brisk trade selling the new Arrow paperbacks with their fresh and vibrant jackets.
